About the team

As you may know, the Warriors is part of the wider Old Wimbledonians RFC, and feeds into the senior section of the rugby club. This means all our young players have a direct route into adult rugby when they graduate from the Warriors, with some of our earliest members already having gone on to represent the OWRFC First XV over the past few seasons. The senior section of the club is also open to newcomers, and is always keen to welcome new players from all rugby backgrounds and walks of life.

A great rugby club, for players of any age

The senior section of the OWRFC is made up of both a Men’s First XV (age 18+) and a Vets (age 40+) side. The First XV currently plays in Surrey League 2, while the Vets schedule their fixtures on a season-by-season basis. Some recent achievements include winning the Surrey Shield twice in recent years, in 2012 and 2014, and reaching the RFU’s National Junior Vase quarter-final in 2018. The current OWRFC squad is a friendly, talented group of young players who train hard and enjoy celebrating their successes as a group of friends as well as team-mates. And while they’re committed to their rugby on the field, they’re also very active in the community as well, with strong ties to local charity the Dons Local Action Group.

How to get involved

If you’d like to become part of one of the most sociable, inclusive rugby clubs in South West London, don’t hesitate to head down to a training session soon and get involved. Training takes place every Tuesday evening in Raynes Park
Players should arrive at 6:45pm for a 7pm start
Players of all ages (18+), backgrounds, and abilities are welcome
Director of Rugby, Gabriel Enright: “I’d like to invite anyone who’s interested in playing rugby this season – whether trying it for the first time or getting back into it after a few years off – to come down to training with us and discover what makes the OWRFC such a unique, special rugby club.”
On top of joining a gifted young squad, to play rugby at a fun but competitive level, new members will also gain access to some great deals and discounts with local businesses who are partnered with the club, plus many more benefits.
And they always make time to have a chat and a enjoy a pint together after training too, with plenty of delicious pizza provided for all players after most sessions.
